About Katalin Domoszlay
Katalin Domoszlay was born in Budapest, Hungary considers herself a life long artist. She relocated to the United States in the early '80s to freely continue her art and learn architecture and interior design. She earned a Master's degree in both fields Architecture and Interior Design from the University of Colorado, Denver. Settling in Aspen in 1991, she collaborated with prominent architects before founding her own firm, in which she seamlessly integrates architecture, interior design, and art.
Katalin's work is influenced by her life experiences architectural background and Zen practice, imbuing her work with a profound sense of presence and introspection. “Being an immigrant and having a naturally open and curious disposition created a break (through) within me,” she reflects, echoing Leonard Cohen's words: “That’s where the light gets in.”
For Katalin, painting transcends the predictable confines of the conscious mind. “I am as curious about what will unfold as a bystander observing an artist at work. Each piece teaches me something about myself, both during and after the creative process.”
She believes that art can bring “peace and solace in our busy, complicated world, illuminating the invisible aspects of our internal and external environment.” Collectors frequently express how her work enriches their lives with its calming and meditative qualities, evoking joy.
